Melania's Saudi Style

On her first trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with President Trump, Melania could be seen in her own interpretation of the modest dress code of the Islamic nation. She disembarked the plane on Friday in a black seventies inspired jumpsuit by Stella McCartney. The look features "disco-era details" as Vogue put it, with a wide leg silhouette, key hole cut out, and cuffed sleeves. The black look of the jumpsuit is thought to call to one's mind the traditional abaya of Saudi Arabia, but the First Lady was able to add two particularly eye catching pieces: an 80's inspired gold oversized python belt by Saint Laurent and a chunky, chain link necklace, both flashy Trump hallmarks. Jumpsuits are nothing new to Melania however, and this style has become increasingly common in her closet.

Her conservative, almost Islamic, style followed the First Lady throughout her brief trip to Saudi Arabia. On Saturday night, Melania donned a caped dress in a deep raspberry, designed by Reem Acra, a designer from Beirut, Lebanon. This modest, caped gown however, was not without Trump flair. The color, though monotone, was an eye-catching spring hue, accented with a sparkling diamond collar.

For Sunday night, Melania's final evening in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, she returned to a business-like tailored look. The look consisted of a white Dolce & Gabbana suit with a black blouse, and her flashy accessory being snakeskin stilettos by Manolo Blahnik. The First Lady's looks in the Kingdom have made her respectfully covered, yet modern. Traditionally modest, yet chic in the details. Melania has shown the kingdom of Saudi Arabia that she has appreciation for their traditional customs, and can execute them flawlessly, with her own flair.
